For privacy reasons, personal information in domain registration data is not displayed in public WHOIS or RDAP results. As an ICANN-accredited registrar, Sav.com provides a mechanism for any third party to request access to nonpublic registration data ("NPRD") on the basis of a legitimate interest, consistent with the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and other applicable privacy laws. This process is not limited to law enforcement or holders of court orders — however, all requests must meet the requirements below.
Before submitting a request, we encourage you to consider less-intrusive alternatives: reporting abuse to [email protected], filing a UDRP complaint, pursuing a court dispute, or using the anonymous contact form available on our WHOIS results page to reach the domain holder directly.
How to Submit a Request
Submit your request in writing via email to [email protected] with the subject line: NPRD Disclosure Request — [Domain Name].
Required Format and Content
Every request must include the following:
- Requestor identification: Full legal name, organization (if applicable), mailing address, email address, and telephone number.
- Authorization documentation (where applicable): If the request is submitted on behalf of another party, a Power of Attorney, signed authorization letter, or similar documentation evidencing the requestor's authority to act on behalf of the represented party.
- Domain and data identification: The exact domain name(s) under inquiry and the specific data elements requested (e.g., registrant name, registrant email, admin contact email). We do not fulfill partial match or wildcard requests.
- Basis for the request: A description of the legitimate interest or legal basis supporting the request, including the reason the data is needed, the rights or interests at stake, why the data is necessary and proportionate, and any supporting documentation (e.g., trademark registrations, court orders, subpoenas, evidence of infringement or abuse).
- Good faith affirmation: A statement affirming that the request is being made in good faith and that the information provided is accurate and complete to the best of the requestor's knowledge.
- Lawful processing agreement: A statement that the requestor agrees to process lawfully any data element values received in response to the request, in compliance with GDPR and all other applicable data protection and privacy laws.
Review Process and Response
Our legal team reviews each request on a case-by-case basis, evaluating completeness, legitimacy, and proportionality. We balance the requestor's stated interest against the privacy rights of the data subject. All responses — including acknowledgments, requests for additional information, approvals, and denials — are provided via email to the address included in the original request.
- We will acknowledge receipt within 2 business days.
- A final decision will be provided within 30 calendar days of receipt of a complete request.
- If additional information is needed, we will notify the requestor by email.
- If a request is approved, the requestor will be required to sign an NPRD Access Agreement before any data is disclosed. The NPRD will then be delivered via encrypted email or other secure method.
- If a request is denied, the requestor will receive a written explanation of the reason.
Scope and Limitations
- Requests must be for current, active domain registrations. We do not provide historical or archived NPRD.
- Requests are reviewed on a per-domain basis.
- Disclosure is limited to: all non-public Registration Data as defined in Section 6 of the ICANN Registration Data Policy.
- The requestor must dispose of the NPRD within 30 days of receipt or when they can no longer rely on legitimate interest as a lawful basis for processing — whichever is sooner.
- Sav.com reserves the right to deny any request at its sole discretion.
